“Odekabeshniks, why are you silent? Why don't you talk about your neighbors? <…> Why do you not have a position against Bandera, Nazis and Nazis who killed our ancestors? The leaders of the CIS countries have repeatedly called on the parties to peace talks. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in particular, on the first day of the special operation, announced the need for an urgent meeting in Minsk for peace talks. He also said that Putin did not ask him to participate in the special operation.
In turn, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, said that Kazakhstan would support the creation of a Greater Eurasian Partnership, the basis of which could be the CIS, but does not recognize the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, considering them quasi-state territories. Tokayev also said that some Russian deputies, journalists and cultural figures made absolutely incorrect statements about his country.
Earlier, Tokayev said that Kazakhstan does not abandon its allied obligations with Russia, but will comply with all the restrictions that the world community has imposed on Moscow.
The last summit of the CSTO leaders was held on May 16 in Moscow. The summit was attended by Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Presidents of Belarus and Kazakhstan Alexander Lukashenko and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, heads of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon, as well as Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Following the results of the summit, the leaders issued a joint statement in which they expressed their readiness to establish practical cooperation with NATO to “reduce tensions on the continent.” At the same time, the CSTO leaders stressed that they were concerned about the situation on the external borders and expressed their readiness to ensure the security of the borders. At the same time, the leaders of the countries did not discuss sending the military to Ukraine, the Secretary General of the organization Stanislav Zas clarified.
