Russian businessmen, fearing the confiscation of their yachts due to Western sanctions, are mooring them in the UAE (Dubai), Turkey and the Maldives, Bloomberg reports citing an analytical company Spire Global Inc., which monitors the activity of ships via satellites.
The fact that there are yachts of Russians under sanctions in the Maldives was previously reported by Reuters. The agency learned about six such yachts, including one owned by businessman Andrey Melnichenko.
In early June, Bloomberg reported that the yacht Pacific, associated with the head of NOVATEK Leonid Mikhelson, moored in Turkish Marmaris. Prior to this, the last location of the yacht was fixed at the end of May in the Mediterranean Sea, where she arrived after leaving one of the ports of Costa Rica.
