Against the backdrop of statements about the possibility of a protracted conflict in Ukraine, the leaders of the Seven, following the summit in Germany, plan to announce their intention to help Kyiv “as much as it takes”
G7 countries (Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, USA, France and Japan) in a statement following the summit that began on June 26 in Germany, they will announce their intention to provide unlimited support to Ukraine, writes Bloomberg with reference to the draft document.
“We will continue to provide financial, humanitarian, military and diplomatic support and be with Ukraine for as long as necessary,” says the text.
According to the agency, the G7 states are also considering using customs revenues to help Ukraine.
Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. Its goal is called “demilitarization and denazification” by the authorities; neighboring state, as well as the protection of the DNR and LNR. Moscow emphasizes that the special operation will end when its goals are achieved.
On June 19, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg admitted that the conflict could drag on for years, and stressed that the alliance should be is ready to assist Kyiv in the conditions of protracted hostilities. Similar forecasts were voiced by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The Washington Post, citing sources, reported that the United States and its allies were preparing for a protracted scenario. The Kremlin also agreed with this assessment.
An attempt by Western leaders to resolve the conflict now will give Russia the opportunity to manipulate “sovereign countries and international markets,” Johnson warned French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the G7 summit. Macron, after the outbreak of hostilities, often called up Russian President Vladimir Putin and in early June said that he had talked with his Russian colleague about Ukraine for “a hundred hours.” At the talks, Johnson and Macron agreed that in order to change the course of the conflict, it is necessary to continue to help Kyiv to strengthen its negotiating and military position.

The Russian leadership accuses Western countries of trying to prolong the hostilities by supplying Ukraine with military aid. At the same time, the Kremlin emphasizes that the tasks of the special operation will be completed, despite the “pumping” Kyiv with Western weapons.
