There are no prerequisites for a change of power in Russia now, Oleg Deripaska, founder of UC Rusal, said.

He emphasized that this was “by no means a reproach”— there are simply no economic prerequisites for regime change, in his opinion.

Deripaska noted that he nevertheless understands why the Western leaders, who the Putin regime” are putting pressure on Russia: they have “no other answer to their voters.”
The businessman also said that “to destroy Ukraine” would have been a “colossal mistake”.
The three businessmen mentioned by Deripaska live in London. Co-founder of Alfa Group Mikhail Fridman and, until recently, Petr Aven, who headed the board of directors of Alfa-Bank, after the start of the military operation in Ukraine, were included in the sanctions lists of the EU and Great Britain. Friedman compared life under sanctions to house arrest and accused their authors of misunderstanding Russia: businessmen, according to him, can in no way influence the president's decisions on a special operation. He declared that “war can never be the solution” and called the conflict a tragedy for the peoples of Ukraine and Russia. Aven admitted that he did not understand how to survive under sanctions.

Khodorkovsky left Russia shortly after spending about ten years in prison. After the start of the military operation in Ukraine, he became one of the founders of the Anti-War Committee and criticized the operation.
Western authorities deny that the sanctions are aimed at regime change in Russia. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that NATO does not have such a goal, the US and British leadership refuted the existence of such intentions. They emphasize that the sanctions are designed to help end the conflict in Ukraine.
